My Chinese Little School Bag series is a set of graded reading materials for K-6 students learning Chinese. It has 6 levels, each level has 8 books. The texts of the books are at appropriate levels of difficulty, the levels are reasonably graded; the topics are various and close to real life, and correspond to the IB Chinese syllabus. It integrates Chinese cultural knowledge in the design of stories, e.g. the Forbidden City, the Silk Road, the Great Wall, and the Terracotta Warriors; it also incorporates knowledge from various disciplines in the stories, e.g. “Polar Bear Novice”, “Turtle Flower”, “Summer Job”, “Penguin Family” etc. incorporate knowledge from multiple disciplines such as biology, geography, and society.

Each volume of My Chinese Little School Bag Series of Graded Readers contains the main text and accompanying word lists, exercises, English translations, pinyin comparisons, etc. Main features of the series:

1. Appropriate difficulty and scientific grading: Strictly control the difficulty of the text, pay attention to the recurrence of language knowledge, and help young readers achieve barrier-free reading in Chinese as the difficulty gradually increases.

2. varieties of topics close to life: Choose themes and topics that children love and are familiar with, write lively and interesting stories, and correspond with the IB Chinese syllabus to facilitate teachers’ and students’ selection.

3. Subject expansion and knowledge integration: Cleverly integrate knowledge from other subjects into the story. Starting from the 4th level, a non-fiction “extended reading” section is added to help young readers improve their interdisciplinary reading literacy.

4. Reader’s Theatre, Fun with Chinese: Starting from the 4th level, complete scripts are provided in the “Reader’s Theatre” section, allowing young readers to experience the fun of learning Chinese and cultivate the qualities of self-confidence and cooperation in an emotional performance. In addition, this series has also launched e-book content on the Level Chinese platform, which can be used by teachers and students for online Chinese teaching/learning.
